Hi, I’m Jill

I’ve been running wine tastings for five years, and I’m here to tell you: anyone can appreciate a great wine - even if you normally drink whatever’s on sale.

I love to introduce you to a new favourite, or help you realize you actually CAN smell strawberries in Pinot Noir, or teach you a fancy French wine word to impress your friends with. (Ask me about pétillance - you’re gonna look so cool.)

I started That Wine Nerd in 2019, as an Instagram account documenting my exploration of wine. In 2020, I did a WSET (Wine and Spirits Education) course with a friend, and I was immediately hooked. 

Things escalated quickly. I started a wine club at work. Now I have my WSET Level 3 and I’m working on the Diploma level, their highest designation. 

You probably don’t care to spend months reading 600-page textbooks on growing conditions and grape varieties in wine regions around the world. 

That’s totally fine, because I do (and did!) and I’ll tell you all the fun facts. 

I promise to leave out the details about the amount of annual rainfall in Piedmont. (You’re welcome.)
